Welcome to the Centre for Social Science Research
As Director, I am pleased to welcome you to our Research Centre. The Centre for Social Science Research (CSSR) aims to be recognised nationally and internationally as a provider of high quality social research that contributes to understanding and improving the well-being and health of environments, families and individuals in Central Queensland and elsewhere.
Since its designation as a CQUniversity research centre in 1994 the CSSR has developed a reputation as one of Australia's leading providers of applied social research. This reputation is based on a 13 year track record of delivering quality research outcomes; extensive links with community, industry and government groups in Central Queensland and elsewhere; and the extensive range of social research infrastructure contained in the Centre's Population Research Laboratory (including an in-house CATI - Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewing - Lab).
Among a number of highlights, the last few years have seen the continuing success of the 10,000 Steps physical activity program and the consolidation of the Queensland Centre for Domestic and Family Violence Research. The omnibus Queensland Social Survey and the Central Queensland Social Survey remain at the centre of the large scale population based research program within the CSSR and continue to offer a cost effective research tool for both community and academic researchers.
This research underpins CQUniversity's commitment to research that addresses the real needs of the communities in which it operates. On behalf of a coalition of CQUniversity research centres and groups, the CSSR provides an administrative home for the CQUniversity Healthy Communities research program; a population health-based research initiative to promote community, family and individual health and well-being through prevention, intervention and evaluation (http://www.healthycommunities.cqu.edu.au/).
Please feel free to contact us if you have any queries regarding our research activities.
